1. NRW Nano Conference in Dortmund

A Special Form of Carbon: Baytubes®

On February 18th and 19th, 2008, the Ministery for Innovation of NRW in cooperation with the Dortmund office for the promotion of trade and industry will host the first NRW Nano Conference in the congress centre of the Westfalen Event Hall in Dortmund. Bayer MaterialScience is participating in this event where scientists, researchers and business will have an opportunity to meet.

The main focus of the Bayer MaterialScience presentation will be Baytubes®, multi walled carbon nanotubes. “They are already in use for the production of various sports articles such as hockey sticks and skis as well as in a variety of industrial applications such as packaging goods” explains Dr. Helmut Meyer, R&D manager carbon nanotubes at Bayer MaterialScience.

Other topics in the conference are workshops and technical contributions relating to nanoelectronics, nanoanalytics, nanophotonics, and nanomaterials.

One of the highlights of the conference will be a presentation of Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Minister for Innovation in NRW, covering the strategy of the national government on nanotechnology.
